In recent years, our brave Corrections Officers have faced numerous challenges, including increased violence in facilities, rising mental health issues among inmates, and the effects of staffing shortages. They have been advocating for measures to improve safety and working conditions, as well as for additional resources to better support inmates—particularly in terms of mental health care.
I support their efforts, which reflect an understanding of the complexities of their roles and the need for policies that prioritize both safety and rehabilitation.
